I contacted several companies about installing a metal roof and getting rid of my shingle roof. I was impressed with how quickly AMT responded and they asked for my information and needs and got a quote prepared very quickly for me. The process to go from quote to roof replacement was also very easy. Tony communicated very clear timeline about how long to order materials and have everything done. The materials arrived quicker than expected and the replacement was scheduled quickly and even better was able to be done while I was away on a weekend trip so nothing about it disrupted my day!! It looks great and the colour is a fantastic match to the colour of my existing garage metal roof. I also love that they take e-transfer payments so the payment process was also super simple. The work was done very neatly, all waste was in the bin and the bin was removed quickly too. Very happy with this company.

Installation Process

  1. Remove and dispose of existing cedar shakes.
  2. Install high temperature self-adhered roofing underlayment along eaves lines and valleys.
  3. Strap existing roof deck by vertically running 1”x4” and horizontally 2”x2” heat treated lumber to ensure full deck ventilation and reinforced support for metal tiles. This process will create approximately 3” gap between new and existing roof lines that will prevent ice damming in winter and reduce interior heat in summer.
  4. Cut an opening in ridge line for ridge ventilation and apply ridge tape to it.
  5. Cover entire roof deck with synthetic roofing underlayment for additional protection.
  6. Install 4’x7’ galvanized (Z275/G90) 25 gauge (0.5mm) cold rolled steel tiles with baked on coating in a colour of customer’s choice.
  7. Add matching custom starters, ridge caps, gable covers, valleys, flashings, and snow guards.
  1. Remove and dispose of existing asphalt shingles.
  2. Install high temperature self-adhered roofing underlayment along eaves lines and valleys and cover entire roof deck with synthetic metal roofing underlayment for additional protection.
  3. Install eaves flashing and valleys with hooks.
  4. Install custom length pre-painted 16” wide Galvalume 26 gauge standing seam panels with mechanical locks, hidden fasteners and folded locking edges in a colour of customer’s choice.
  5. Cut an opening in ridge line for ridge ventilation and apply ridge tape to it.
  6. Add matching custom ridge caps, gable covers, flashing and snow guards.

  6. Add matching ridge caps, gable covers, flashings, and snow guards along eaves lines.
  7. Install new flashing around skylights and reinstall skylights.
